"The only way to stay sane is to go a little crazy."
Emma and I decided to take the MRT train to Boon Lay for lunch on Monday, 12 November 2007. It's a day to be remembered! Despite the silliness for our actions, I feel that I benefited from this trip. Crazy as it seems, to go all the way to Boon Lay on a growling stomach, it is actually refreshing and adds spice to my lacklustre life.
We chatted, we caught up and we bonded(:
It's a great feeling to bond with your best friend(;
First, we had Seafood Tempura from Shilin Taiwan Restaurant. If you call it a restaurant, that is. No seats, not tables, no nothing for us to consume our food. We just grabbed the packet and strolled away. It tasted good; pepperish and chewy. Emma fell in love with it.
Jurong Point had nothing special. Disappointingly. Seems like Singapore's the same everywhere you go. The same shops, same food courts, same restaurant, same kind of stuff. Argh. We sure didn't stay there long.
What was good about the trip was that we had a sense of accomplishment. :D It was like we were on a exploration journey. A place different, a place new, a place we've never been before. We didn't know our way around, we were like pets moved to a new home and we approached the place with mild curosity. What added to the adrenaline was that it was just us two. Emma and I, me and Emma. We were the only ones familiar with each other.
I felt good.
We decided on Subway after going round the first, second and third floor. Before our 6 inch long sandwich, we had japanese crepe. The phony images of the fillings of the crepe shattered when we saw how it was really made. Every single ingredient cost so much that we only had the basic. Which meant that we had the skin, a small spread of chestnut butter and a tiny dab of cream rolled into one. We enjoyed it, that's for sure, but we'd decided it was not worth the money.
Before boarding the train back to Pasir Ris, we investigated the toilet. What struck us as interesting was that there was a mirror in each cubicle! Truthfully, I had no idea what the mirror was for. Handicap? Not likely, since there was one specially made for them elsewhere in the washroom area. Makeup? Touching your face without washing your hands after doing your business. Plain crass. So what?
On the train back, I fell asleep. Lucky I didn't drool. Emma fell asleep too, but she did way after I did. (:
It was a crazily lovely day out with Emma, and I'm looking forward to another one! (:
